Clearline Hidden Gutter System
Clearline™ Hidden Gutter Balustrade Integration
Frameless glass balustrade with concealed drainage
Clearline™ is a premium frameless glass balustrade system designed to integrate seamlessly with a concealed external gutter creating a clean, continuous fascia line.
By combining balustrade fixing and drainage into one coordinated detail, Clearline™ allows architects to achieve a true hidden gutter look without compromising on balustrade design or performance.
One System. One Fascia Line.
Clearline™ enables the balustrade and gutter to sit within the same zone. As a result, both systems align cleanly along the fascia rather than competing for space.
This removes the typical conflicts between:
- Balustrade brackets
- Gutter systems
- Cladding and membrane terminations
The outcome is a sharper, more resolved edge detail that suits modern architectural builds.
Designed for Membrane Decks
Clearline™ is purpose-built for membrane deck construction, where drainage and balustrade fixing often clash.
With the addition of our concealed gutter system, you can:
- Integrate drainage directly behind the balustrade
- Maintain a clean exterior line with no visible spouting
- Hide floating deck edges for a more refined finish
Because of this, Clearline™ is widely specified on high-end residential homes, apartments, and architectural projects.
Why Architects Specify Clearline™ with Hidden Gutter
Architects choose this system because it simplifies detailing while improving the final aesthetic.
Key benefits include:
- True hidden gutter appearance
- Balustrade and drainage aligned on the same fascia
- Clean, uninterrupted architectural lines
- Reduced visual clutter at deck edges
- Compatible with side-mounted frameless glass balustrades
In addition, all components including the concealed gutter are available through Glass Vice®, ensuring a fully integrated system.
Clean Detail. Better Outcome.
Instead of designing around multiple competing systems, Clearline™ brings everything together into one coordinated solution.
This not only improves the visual outcome, but also simplifies installation and reduces on-site complexity.

Glass Vice and Clearline clamps are designed to accept either 9/16" or 5/8" laminated safety glass for frameless glass railing installations without a top cap rail, achieving the required 42" guard height. For installations where a top cap rail is used, 1/2" tempered glass is also an accepted specification.
For commercial applications — including stadiums, hospitality venues, and large-scale developments — Glass Vice hardware can accommodate thicker glass configurations. We recommend contacting Glass Vice USA directly to discuss the right specification for your project.
Glass specifications should always be confirmed with your glazier, installer, or engineer against local IBC and IRC requirements. Some jurisdictions have specific interpretations on laminated versus tempered glass for guard applications, and your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) has final say on what is accepted at permit stage.

Yes — although you can use Clearline without the cover cladding. Clearline features an optional decorative cover plate that clads over all the clamps, concealing the fixing point for a clean, finished appearance.
